Municipal Finance Clerk – Village of Beiseker

Full Time – Permanent 36 hours per week

Position – Municipal Finance Clerk

The Village of Beiseker has an opening for the position of Municipal Finance Clerk that offers opportunities for growth, team interaction, community involvement and flexibility.  Beiseker is a progressive municipality that prides itself on the services we provide to our residents of the village and surrounding area.

Position Description

Reporting to the CAO (Chief Administrative Officer), the Municipal Finance Clerk will work as part of a team to provide optimal and efficient accounting and administrative support for the Village Office.  This role will provide both front-end services to the public as well as all financial functions including A/R, A/P, year end reporting, taxes, utilities and payroll.

Requirements:

This position requires an independent, sociable, highly motivated individual who is interested in accounting, administration and direct contact with the public.

Required Education and Experience (Please detail your experience with positions and software in your application)

  • Experience in municipal government finances and/or at least five years accounting background that includes all elements of accounting including Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Payroll, Reporting (GST/Year end) and full cycle accounting will be essential for this position
  • Post-secondary education preferably in accounting would be an asset
  • Administrative and reception experience
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite applications
  • Related experience with financial software (Muniware) would be an asset.
  • Consent to disclosure of a Criminal Record Check

Other requirements for the position include:

  • Extremely high morals relating to confidentiality and respect
  • Good command of the English Language
  • Strong budgeting/grant experience
  • Detailed focus with an organized approach and ability to prioritize tasks
  • Can work independently as well as within a team environment
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Comprehensive understanding of financial processes and reconciliations including strong numeracy skills and a high level of accuracy
  • Strong diplomatic, relationship-building and customer service skills

Compensation:

  • $22 to $26 per hour starting wage depending on experience and qualifications
  • RRSP and full benefit program
  • Remote work flexibility (to be negotiated)
